My story was a recipe for a breastfeeding disaster on paper. I knew I wanted to breastfeed and I knew breastfeeding was best for my baby, but I was terrified that it might not work out. Struggling with infertility, battling PCOS, navigating gestational diabetes during pregnancy, and welcoming tongue-tied and lip-tied babies into the world – these challenges were part of my journey. Each hurdle could have discouraged me, but instead, they ignited a fire within me to pave the way for a different narrative. That is when I turned to collecting colostrum prenatally.As a lactation consultant, I understood the profound value of breast milk, especially in the face of challenges. I knew that cutting corners wasn’t an option and that I needed every resource available to stay one step ahead and triumph over adversity. The decision to collect colostrum before birth emerged as a pivotal choice.
